We provide compassionate, progressive and comprehensive Veterinary Care.

Welcome and thank you for visiting our website.  Our busy, 8 doctor, mixed animal practice is located off Highway 29, just outside Franklin Springs.  We service a large portion of Northeast Georgia, including Banks, Franklin, Elbert, Hart, Madison and Stephen’s counties.  We also have clientele in South Carolina.

Our regular operating hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 6:00pm and Saturday from 8:00am – 12:00pm.  For more information please write, call or email us.

Royston Animal Hospital, Inc. (RAH) was formed in 1983 by Dr. Doris Cato, Dr. Kenneth Cato and Dr. Bruce Bowen, all graduates of The University of Georgia (UGA).  Each doctor was skilled at both large and small animal medicine, as well as technician, kennel hand and receptionist!  Five years later, in 1988 Candy Atkinson joined RAH as a receptionist.  After working many capacities at our clinic she is now essential to our animal hospital as our Practice Manager.  In 1990 Dr. Wanda Ray Thompson joined RAH.  She received her veterinary degree from UGA.  She along with Drs. Cato and Dr. Bowen are the owners of RAH.

In September of 2007, after outgrowing our office at 2888 West Main St., we moved into our new 7000sq ft. building in the same location.  Our newer facility gave us the opportunity to better serve the community.  

Our Associate Doctors

Dr. Laura Yetzina graduated from UGA and her interests are in large and small animal veterinary medicine.  Dr. Christina Park and Dr. Ashley Noellert came to us from North Carolina, and Dr. Whitney Chegwidden came from UGA, they all practice large and small animal veterinary medicine as well as serving in an Emergency capacity.  Our practice with our 8 doctors have a combined total of over 140 years of experience.

Our Receptionists

Yvonne Smith (Reception Manager), Vickie Prickett, Rebecca Atkinson, Erica King-Phillips, Caryn Holcomb and Hannah Maddox keep the front office running smoothly.  Our receptionist strive to give the best customer service available to our clients.  Their responsibilities include answering a multi-line phone system, loving on client’s pets, greeting clients, loving on client’s pets, stocking shelves, loving on client’s pets, checking in and checking out clients, loving on client’s pets and other duties as assigned to them.

Our Groomers

Marcy, our groomer has been with RAH since 2006 and has many years of grooming experience.  Marcy is very gentle with her patients and enjoys talking to and loving on them while grooming.

Our Veterinary Assistants & Technicians

Blonca joined RAH when she was just 16 years old and now that she is … oops, well let’s just say she is no spring chicken; she is our Senior Room Veterinary Assistant.  Many of you have met “Winnie” her weenie dog that follows her around all day.  Rita joins Blonca and brings many years of technical experience with her.  Jennifer Carnes and Ashley Kendrick, are two of our Registered Veterinary Technicians that buzz all over the clinic and are proficient with customer service for large and small animals.  Melissa(RVT), Lisa and Michael assist the veterinarians also in rooms and doing routine blood work when needed.  They all love what they do and love working with animals.

Our Surgical Team

Bree, who has many years of veterinary assistant experience resides as our lead in the surgery area.  She is joined by Tracy and Joni(RVT). Together these ladies see after the surgery patients as well as sick patients in our treatment and isolation wards.

Our Large Animal Veterinary Team

BJ started out in the kennel, from time to time he would assist a doctor on a difficult farm call.  After a while BJ learned so much about large animal medicine that he has become indispensable to the large animal veterinarians.  Jennifer, Ashley and Lisa also assist on large animal calls as well as covering the large animal appointment desk and keeping up the mountains of paperwork for the large animal doctors.

Our Inventory Manager

Lisa joined RAH in 2006 and is still working diligently on losing her New York accent!  She keeps us in supplies and watches our bottom dollar. 

Our Kennel Staff

Last but never least is our Kennel Staff.  We have a beautiful boarding facility and hope you will take a tour.  Renee is our Kennel Manager and has been with RAH since 2004.  Her calm and gentle mannerism has an especially positive effect on our boarders.  She is joined by Tabiatha, Hannah, Sarah, Kerstin, Randall and MaryAnna.  They all have a passion for animals and enjoy playing with, feeding, bathing, loving and caring for their boarding friends while they are with us.

Operations Manager

Maurice Alvarez joined RAH in 2016 bring a wealth of knowledge from many years as Practice Manager of a large 2 facility animal hospital in Chattanooga.  Mo (as we refer to him) is us better our client services by managing human resources.
